Goods Checker is not case sensitive. Enter a keyword in the search text box , e.g. laser, detonator, rifle, engine. Do not use a product brand or trade name, e.g. 'AK47'; it will not work. Click on the Go button and the relevant part(s) of the lists will appear on the bottom left hand half of the screen. Your keyword will be highlighted. Click onto one and the appropriate bit of the control list will appear on the bottom right hand side.
If you want to search on two or three keywords you can do this using Advanced Search .
Once exporters know the 'rating' (i.e. the control list entry reference in the UK Strategic Export Control Lists) of their goods, software or technology and know what country they will be exported to, they may be able to use an Open General Export Licence (OGEL). Exporters can use the web-based OGEL Checker as a search tool to help them assess if any OGELs may be relevant.
